Awesome article, it brings me back to my granola days of dreadlocks and tele-turns….. and the battle to finally give in to the “darkside”. The final straw that broke the camel’s back for me was having releasable bindings at the hill for avalanche control. After the learning curve was over I never looked back…. it’s just easier, faster and more powerful….. sure was fun though.

One thing I should add, for those fellow teleskiers that still think they can “pull it off” and win, is that the ISMF (International Ski Mountaineering Federation) rules require that racers be able to lock down the heel on a descent. This obviously disqualifies any style other than AT so if you plan to race competitively, you have to go to the “dark side” like me and others.
